Double G Ranch

Double G Ranch is a Scottish Highland cattle breeder in Westcliffe, CO, Custer County and the Wet Mountain Valley near Pueblo. It has been raising hardy, long-horned Highland cattle for more than fifteen years, holding membership in the American Highland Cattle Association and performing annual health screenings for bovine viral diarrhea and Johne’s disease.

Their cattle graze on mixed grasses across gently rolling pastures at 8,000 feet and gain early socialization through daily handling around the barn and quiet lanes. Michael and Cynthia Grogan follow a low-stress stockmanship approach and emphasize natural grazing rotations to support soil health and animal vitality.

The ranch began as a family homestead in the 1980s, preserving a tradition of regional cattle stewardship. The Grogan family keeps a modest herd size to ensure each calf receives personalized attention from birth through weaning. Calves are weaned naturally in autumn, reflecting seasonal rhythms and allowing the herd to thrive on high-altitude grassland through winter.
