Whitney Acres Farm

Whitney Acres Farm raises Shetland sheep in Ashfield, MA, Franklin County and the Pioneer Valley near Springfield. Kimberlee Kerley and Doug Meyer have more than 15 years of experience and maintain membership in the Shetland Sheepbreeders Association with annual health testing for hoof and fleece quality. Their flock lives on open pasture with shelter from seasonal weather, and lambs are raised alongside adult sheep to encourage social bonding.

Nutrition is guided by rotational grazing and balanced supplementation, and early handling helps ensure calm livestock comfortable with routine care. Each lamb is weighed at birth and monitored through weaning to maintain growth milestones and overall health.

Animals graze alongside pastured poultry in rotational plots to support soil health and forage diversity. The farm follows state guidelines for animal welfare and undergoes regular veterinary reviews to ensure ongoing health standards.
