How should I name a pair of rats?

Rats are social and should live in same-sex pairs or groups, so many owners pick a matched set like Salt and Pepper or Mac and Cheese. If you would rather keep names independent, choose two that sound clearly different so each rat can learn its own. Distinct sounds matter more than the theme.

Are there different names for boy and girl rats?
