Agile Gibbon
Hylobates agilis
This tailless ape lives in the rainforest canopy of Sumatra, Malaysia and southern Thailand. Its very long arms support swinging between branches; both sexes have white brows, and males also have white cheek whiskers. Zoo primate teams maintain social pairs with high climbing routes and sheltered accommodation. Females usually give birth to one infant. US primate-import restrictions apply, and the species is US ESA endangered and CITES Appendix I listed.
