Ghost Tree Spider
Amazonius subcaeruleus
The ghost tree spider is an arboreal Amazonian tarantula documented in Colombia and Ecuador. Adult females have dark, subtly metallic green, gray and blue tones with longer orange-tinted hairs; the vivid juvenile pattern fades with growth. Widely sold as Amazonius burgessi, it now takes the older name A.
subcaeruleus. Experienced hobbyists keep this fast spider in secure, ventilated vertical enclosures with bark retreats and water. It lacks abdominal urticating hairs, but should not be handled. Females produce silk egg sacs.
