Arabian Fat Tail Scorpion
Androctonus crassicauda
Traditionally called the Arabian fat tail scorpion, true Androctonus crassicauda was restricted to central Iran by a 2025 revision. Adults are dark brown, with a thick ridged tail and pincer hands slightly broader than the preceding arm segment. Many older Arabian and Middle Eastern records concern species now separated from it, making origin important in the specialist trade.
Provide a secure dry enclosure with shelter, diggable substrate and water. Venom studies of Iranian stock under this name support strict hands-off care. Females bear live young.
