Panama Gold Tarantula
Aphonopelma belindae
The Panama gold tarantula is a terrestrial species described from Chiriqui, Panama. Adults have a warm bronze to honey-brown carapace above darker legs and abdomen, with a subdued golden sheen rather than bright knee bands. It is an uncommon captive-bred offering for tarantula hobbyists.
Provide a secure, low enclosure with enough substrate for a burrow, a sheltered retreat and drinking water. Avoid handling and disturbing a molting spider. As in other tarantulas, females lay eggs and protect them inside a silk sac.
