Arizona Bark Scorpion
Centruroides sculpturatus
The Arizona bark scorpion is a slender, pale yellow scorpion of the southwestern United States and adjacent Mexico. Its narrow pincers and long tail suit climbing, and it shelters beneath bark, rocks and in crevices. It is studied by researchers and kept only as a specialist display animal.
Enclosures must be escape-proof, with secure vertical refuges, dry substrate and water. Its medically significant sting can cause serious nerve and muscle symptoms, especially in children. Never handle it. Females bear live young.
