Asian Cockroach
Blattella asahinai
The Asian cockroach is a small outdoor roach native to Asia and introduced in the southeastern United States. Adults resemble German cockroaches, with two dark lengthwise stripes on the head shield, but fly readily and live mainly in leaf litter. It is maintained in laboratory and specialist colonies. Housing needs secure cover, ventilated shelters, a moisture source and varied food. Females carry egg cases before the young hatch. Appearance alone may not separate it reliably from German cockroaches.
