White Albino
A white albino axolotl is a pale captive morph of Ambystoma mexicanum with little to no dark pigment and pink, reddish, or very light eyes. The body is usually white to cream rather than golden, and the gills may show soft pink or peach tones from blood flow. It is often confused with a leucistic axolotl, but leucistics usually have dark eyes, while white albinos lack the dark eye pigment that gives that morph away.
Care is the same as for other axolotls, though albinos can be more reactive to bright light and may do best with subdued lighting, hides, and calm tank placement. Keepers should focus on cold, stable water and gentle filtration rather than display lighting. Breeders working with albino lines need clear parentage notes because albino, golden albino, white albino, and combined morphs can look similar at certain ages. Good photos under neutral light help buyers and future caretakers understand what they are seeing.
