Unknown Morph
Unknown morph is used when a bearded dragon's morph has not been identified or its genetic background is missing. A dragon may look like a normal, citrus, hypo, dunner, or another common type yet still be impossible to classify accurately from appearance alone. Hidden recessive traits do not show in a visual inspection, and lighting, age, shed cycle, and diet can all change how color and pattern appear. The label is most common for rehomes, rescues, and animals purchased without reliable breeder details.
The safest approach is to keep an unknown morph as a standard central bearded dragon and make health the priority. Quarantine and a reptile-savvy check can come before settling the animal into appropriate heat, UVB, and feeding routines. If the animal is later bred, disclose the uncertainty and avoid promising offspring outcomes. For buyers, unknown does not mean low quality; it simply means the dragon should not be marketed as a defined morph or carrier.
