Blue Fang Tarantula
Ephebopus cyanognathus
The blue fang tarantula is a burrowing spider from French Guiana. Adult females have metallic blue mouthparts, a brown carapace with a green sheen, darker brown legs and narrow yellow knee rings. The blue is on the chelicerae rather than the fang tips. Hobbyists keep this fast-moving species singly with deep diggable substrate, a secure retreat, ventilation and water.
Its natural burrow has a silk-bound flared entrance in damp forest soil. Avoid handling and contact with defensive hairs. Females lay eggs in silk sacs.
