Bolivian Blue Leg Tarantula
Pamphobeteus antinous
The Bolivian blue leg tarantula is a large ground-dwelling spider recorded in Bolivia and southern Peru. Adult males have olive-black, woolly hairs, steel-blue upper legs and long reddish bristles. Similar Pamphobeteus require expert identification; trade labels and color alone are unreliable. Specialist hobbyists provide a spacious, low enclosure with deep substrate, a retreat and water. Its defensive abdominal hairs are irritating. Females produce silk egg sacs.
