Borneo Black Tarantula
Phormingochilus arboricola
The Borneo black tarantula is a dark, tree-dwelling species from Borneo; its precise country of origin is unresolved in the World Spider Catalog. Adult females sold in the hobby are black with subtle purple tones. Formerly Lampropelma nigerrimum arboricola, it is now a separate species from the Sangihe black tarantula. Experienced keepers provide a secure, ventilated vertical enclosure with a bark retreat, some diggable substrate and water. Avoid handling this fast spider. Females lay eggs in silk sacs.
