Brachionopus pretoriae
Brachionopus pretoriae
Brachionopus pretoriae is a small South African tarantula recorded in grassland and savanna habitats. Females are dark brown with golden hairs and a mottled abdomen. Similar lesser baboon spiders need close examination, so retain locality and breeder records. Specialist keepers provide a secure, ventilated ground-level enclosure with burrowing substrate, a sheltered retreat and drinking water. Seek species-specific husbandry advice and observe it without handling. Females lay eggs in a silk sac.
