Broad-Striped Vontsira
Galidictis fasciata
This Malagasy carnivore has a low, slender body, broad dark stripes running lengthwise over gray-beige fur and a distinctive creamy-white bushy tail. The eastern form shown has wider dark stripes than the pale spaces between them. Zoo carnivore teams provide secure forestlike accommodation with cover, logs and opportunities to forage. It gives birth to live young. Its pattern distinguishes it from the unstriped brown-tailed vontsira and narrow-snouted falanouc.
