Broad Wood Cockroach
Parcoblatta lata
The broad wood cockroach is a large North American Parcoblatta kept by native-roach enthusiasts. Females have short glossy wings, a warm orange head shield and a red-and-black banded abdomen; the slimmer males have longer wings. Colonies use moist, ventilated substrate with bark and leaf shelters and varied food. Females lay egg cases. Adults can climb and males can fly, so secure lids and fine vents are essential even though this is a woodland roach.
