Bronze Baboon Tarantula
Harpactira namaquensis
The bronze baboon tarantula is a burrowing species from Namibia and South Africa. Bronze, gold or copper tones can show over its carapace and legs, especially after a molt. It builds silk-lined retreats in dry to semi-arid habitat. Experienced hobbyists provide a secure, well-ventilated enclosure with deep, stable substrate, a starter hide and drinking water. Feed appropriately sized insects and avoid handling this quick, defensive spider. Females lay eggs in a silk sac.
