Buffy-Headed Marmoset
Callithrix flaviceps
A small Atlantic Forest monkey of southeastern Brazil, named for its yellowish-buff head and short pale ear tufts. Its long tail is ringed, and its pale face contrasts with the darker body. Conservation teams work on a managed breeding population in Brazil; accommodation needs climbing branches, sheltered resting places and a specialist marmoset diet. It gives birth to live young. US primate-import restrictions apply; it is US ESA endangered and CITES Appendix I listed.
