Brazilian Red Head Tarantula
Bumba horrida
The Brazilian red head tarantula is recorded from Venezuela and Brazil, despite the narrower geography suggested by its hobby name. Its orange carapace contrasts with shiny black legs and abdomen. Older records may use Paraphysa horrida or Bumba cabocla. Keepers should preserve breeder records alongside the current scientific name.
Provide a secure, ventilated ground-level enclosure with substrate, a sheltered retreat and drinking water. Offer appropriately sized insects and observe it without handling. Females lay eggs in a silk sac.
