Puerto Rican Pink Toe Tarantula
Caribena laeta
The Puerto Rican pink toe tarantula occurs in Puerto Rico and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Adults are golden brown with a greenish leg sheen and orange U-shaped toe markings; they differ markedly from the darker juvenile stage. It builds silk retreats among leaves, bromeliads and sheltered structures. Tarantula hobbyists keep it singly with upright bark or foliage, room to web, fresh water and good ventilation. Avoid handling and contact with defensive hairs. Females lay eggs in a silk sac.
