Aphrodite's Giant
Aphrodite's Giant, also called the Aphrodite cat in some registries, is a domestic cat breed developed from the long-established cat population of Cyprus. The name reflects the island's association with Aphrodite, but the breed itself is a modern pedigree effort built around large, strong, naturally adapted Cypriot cats. Typical examples are long-bodied and tall on the legs, with a powerful chest, slightly longer hind legs, and a head that is more triangular than round. Coats may be short or semi-long depending on the line, and many colors and patterns are seen.
Because the breed is still uncommon outside Cyprus and registry status can vary, paperwork and breeder transparency are important for anyone seeking a pedigreed Aphrodite's Giant rather than a Cyprus-type domestic cat. These cats need room to climb and move, and their size makes careful weight management more important than simply encouraging bulk. Semi-longhaired individuals require more brushing when the coat thickens or sheds. Sensible breeding focuses on sound joints, good temperament, and preserving the island-derived type without exaggerating size.
