Cymric
The Cymric is the longhaired form of the Manx cat, traditionally associated with tailless or short-tailed cats from the Isle of Man background. It has a rounded body, substantial hindquarters, a dense double coat, and tail lengths that may range from fully tailless to partial or full tail depending on the cat and registry description. Many registries treat Cymric closely with Manx rather than as a completely separate breed.
Cymric ownership centers on coat care and responsible attention to the Manx tailless trait. The long coat benefits from regular combing, especially around the hindquarters, and kittens should be evaluated for mobility, litter habits, and spinal or pelvic concerns. Breeders avoid careless tailless-to-tailless selection and track tail length, health, and kitten outcomes. For buyers, a sound Cymric should move freely, have clear veterinary history, and come from a breeder or rescue that understands the health implications of the breed's defining gene.
