Foldex
The Foldex is a Canadian-developed cat type combining Scottish Fold and Exotic Shorthair influence. It has a rounded head, short muzzle, dense coat, and folded or straight ears depending on inheritance and breeding choices. The breed is accepted in some registry settings but remains less widespread than either parent influence, and its identity rests on compact rounded type together with careful handling of the folded-ear trait.
Foldex ownership requires attention to the same welfare questions that follow folded-ear cats. The cartilage mutation that folds the ears can also affect joints, so breeders should avoid careless pairings and be open about mobility, stiffness, and family history. The plush coat needs routine grooming, and flatter-faced individuals may need eye or airway attention. Buyers should look for a sound, active cat with clear veterinary records and should ask whether a kitten is folded or straight-eared.
