Ragamuffin
The Ragamuffin is a large, plush-coated companion cat that developed from Ragdoll-related lines after breeder and registry disagreements created a separate path. It has a substantial body, broad head, soft expression, and medium-long coat that appears in many colors and patterns. Unlike the narrower pointed image associated with Ragdolls, Ragamuffins may be seen in solids, tabbies, torties, bicolors, and other patterns depending on the registry.
Ragamuffins mature slowly and should be kept lean while their large frame develops. The coat is usually less prone to severe matting than a Persian coat, but it still needs regular combing around the belly, ruff, and hindquarters. Breeders should explain the breed's relationship to Ragdolls, the accepted colors in their registry, and any line health testing. Owners often choose Ragamuffins for a relaxed household style, yet they still need play, scratching outlets, dental care, and grooming habits started in kittenhood.
