Turkish Angora
The Turkish Angora is a natural longhaired cat breed associated with Ankara, Turkey, historically called Angora. It is fine-boned and athletic, with a silky single coat, plumed tail, large ears, and a lean body. White cats, including odd-eyed and blue-eyed examples, are strongly associated with the breed, but registered Turkish Angoras occur in many other colors and patterns. The breed should not be confused with any white longhaired cat; type, ancestry, and coat texture matter.
In homes, Turkish Angoras tend to be interactive, agile cats that like high perches and steady human attention. Their coat usually resists matting better than heavy double-coated breeds, but regular combing helps during seasonal shedding and keeps the tail and breeches tidy. Careful breeding pays attention to hearing in white and blue-eyed cats, since congenital deafness can occur in domestic cats carrying these traits. Buyers should look for transparent health records and socialized kittens.
