Kamphaeng Saen
Kamphaeng Saen cattle are a Thai beef breed developed through planned crossbreeding, commonly described as combining Charolais, Brahman, and native Thai cattle. The aim was to produce beef animals with more growth and muscling than local cattle while retaining heat tolerance and adaptation to Thailand's environment. The breed is tied to university and research breeding work rather than to an ancient landrace.
In production, Kamphaeng Saen cattle are useful where a farm wants better beef performance without losing too much tropical fitness. Management should watch nutrition, parasite pressure, fertility, and calving ease, especially when using larger-framed beef influence. Breeders need accurate percentage and pedigree records so the population remains consistent instead of becoming a loose crossbred label. Buyers should ask for growth data, dam performance, and how animals have performed under local heat and forage conditions.
