Kazakh Whiteheaded
Kazakh Whiteheaded cattle are a beef breed developed in Kazakhstan by crossing local Kazakh and related steppe cattle with Hereford influence. This produced a red-bodied, white-faced animal that keeps the recognizable Hereford pattern while adding adaptation to cold winters, hot summers, and extensive grazing. The breed is meant for beef production across wide rangeland rather than intensive dairy work.
Producers use Kazakh Whiteheaded cattle where cows must travel, forage, and raise calves under continental range conditions. Useful records include fertility, weaning weight, winter survival, mature cow size, and how well calves finish for beef markets. Breeders should preserve the hardy maternal base while selecting for carcass quality and calm handling. Buyers outside the breed's home region should compare local climate, feed, and market goals before assuming the cattle will perform like ordinary Herefords.
