Thai Black
Thai Black refers to a Thai cattle type or breed associated with black-coated indigenous cattle in Thailand. It is not as internationally standardized as major dairy or beef breeds, and descriptions can vary by source and region. In general, these cattle are small to medium, zebu-influenced animals adapted to heat, humidity, seasonal feed shortages, and smallholder conditions. They may show the loose skin, hump, strong legs, and active grazing behavior typical of tropical Asian cattle.
Thai Black cattle are usually discussed in a local farming context, where animals may provide beef, breeding stock, savings value, manure, and sometimes light work. They can make good use of pasture, crop residues, and by-products, but better nutrition is still needed for growth, fertility, and lactation. Buyers should confirm whether animals come from a recognized breeding program or from a color-based local population, especially if the goal is conservation or planned crossbreeding.
