Yurino
Yurino cattle are a little-documented Russian local cattle population named for the Yurino area in the Volga region, now associated with the Mari El Republic. References usually treat them as a regional dairy or dual-purpose type shaped by local cattle and later improvement breeding, rather than a widely distributed international breed. Animals have been described as medium sized and practical for small farms, with color and type varying more than in highly standardized commercial breeds.
Anyone looking for Yurino cattle should verify whether living herds still represent the old local population or are mostly descendants of later crossbreeding. Management would follow the needs of northern temperate cattle: reliable winter fodder, protection from wet cold, sound housing, and selection for fertility and udder health. The main interest in such a breed is conservation of regional adaptation and farming history. If numbers are small, careful mating plans and accurate herd records matter more than selecting only for short-term milk yield.
