Zimbabwe Gray Baboon Tarantula
Ceratogyrus meridionalis
The Zimbabwe gray baboon tarantula is a hobby name for a species recorded from Malawi and Mozambique. Unlike several horned relatives, this dark brown tarantula has no horn; lighter hairs form a radial pattern on the carapace. Experienced hobbyists provide a secure, ventilated ground-level enclosure with substrate for a silk-lined retreat, a hide and water. It can be quick and defensive, so avoid handling. Females lay eggs in a suspended silk sac.
