Namibian Horned Baboon Tarantula
Ceratogyrus sanderi
The Namibian horned baboon tarantula is recorded from Namibia and Zimbabwe. Its carapace has a short, rounded and curved raised area, rather than the tall horn of some relatives. The revision identifies this low bulge as a useful distinguishing feature. Experienced keepers provide a secure, ventilated enclosure with deep substrate, a hide and drinking water. It makes extensive silk and benefits from some drying between waterings. Avoid handling this fast, defensive spider. Females lay eggs in silk sacs.
