It is not a standardized breed, so birds can have many colors, comb types, body shapes, beards, muffs, or clean faces. Their main appeal is egg color variation, with hens often laying blue, green, olive, or tinted eggs depending on the genes they inherit.

For backyard owners, Easter Eggers are practical and fun layers, but buyers should understand the uncertainty. A pullet sold under the name may not meet Ameraucana standards and may not lay the exact egg color expected. Management is the same as for other laying hens: good feed, calcium, safe housing, and protection from predators. Breeders who want predictable egg color should track parentage and test-lay results instead of relying on the Easter Egger label alone.
