Qingyuan Partridge
The Qingyuan Partridge is a Chinese chicken from the Qingyuan area of Guangdong, often linked with the name Qingyuan ma chicken. It is a traditional meat-type local breed with partridge or hemp-brown feathering in hens, a compact body, fine bone, yellow skin and shanks, and table quality prized in southern Chinese markets. It is not the same as a fast commercial broiler; growth is slower, and texture and flavor matter as much as weight.
Qingyuan Partridge chickens suit small farms and specialty production systems where outdoor access, warm-climate housing, and careful finishing are part of management. They forage actively but still need balanced rations if consistent growth, fertility, or flock health is expected. Buyers outside China should confirm whether birds are true Qingyuan stock, a related partridge-colored village strain, or a hatchery hybrid using the name loosely because conservation value depends on traceable breeding history.
