Skånsk Blommehöna
The Skånsk Blommehöna, or Swedish Flower Hen from Skåne, is a Swedish landrace chicken with varied mottled plumage that can give a flower-speckled impression. It developed as a farm chicken rather than a show creation, so color diversity belongs to the breed's old working character. Birds are generally medium sized, active, hardy, and useful for eggs and small-farm breeding.
Keepers should preserve the landrace character instead of trying to make every bird match a narrow color formula. Select for vigor, fertility, laying, sound bodies, and lively mottling without reducing genetic diversity too far. These chickens do well with outdoor access, but they still need dry shelter and predator protection. Breeding records help maintain family lines, especially because attractive speckling can tempt people to cross in unrelated birds.
