Vietnam Blue Tarantula
Chilobrachys dyscolus
The Vietnam blue tarantula is a Vietnamese burrowing species sold in blue and dark trade forms. Blue iridescence varies with lighting and the molt cycle; these labels do not identify separate species. Experienced keepers provide a secure, ventilated enclosure with deep, moisture-retaining substrate and water. It often webs heavily and stays within its retreat. Feed appropriately sized insects and avoid handling this fast spider. Females lay eggs in silk sacs.
