Chinese Medicinal Cockroach
Eupolyphaga sinensis
The Chinese medicinal cockroach is a burrowing species raised in China and kept in specialist collections. Females are dark, broad and wingless, while males have full wings and a much slimmer outline. The traditional-use name describes its history rather than an established treatment recommendation. Colonies use deep organic substrate with a moisture gradient and a drier surface. Females deposit egg cases, and the young remain concealed in the substrate.
