Chrome Roach
Gyna caffrorum
The chrome roach is an African Gyna known for blue-gray young adults and orange legs. Older adults may become silvery or whitish with mottling, so the color changes with age. Its nymphs live mostly out of sight in the substrate. Specialist colonies use organic substrate, shelters and varied food, with access to moisture and good ventilation. Females retain their egg cases and release live nymphs. Adults climb and fly readily, making a tight lid important.
