Orange Violet Dwarf Tarantula
Citharacanthus cyaneus
The orange violet dwarf tarantula is a Cuban species formerly placed in Cyrtopholis. Orange hairs edge the dark violet carapace and cover the abdomen, above violet-toned lower legs. It is traded in smaller numbers than many familiar tarantulas, so preserve the scientific name and breeder records rather than relying on a color label.
A secure, ventilated ground-level enclosure should provide substrate, a sheltered retreat and drinking water. Offer appropriately sized insects and seek species-specific advice from experienced keepers. Avoid handling. Females lay eggs in a silk sac.
