Cloaked Sun Roach
Hemithyrsocera palliata
The cloaked sun roach is a small, day-active tropical cockroach kept by specialist breeders. Adults have dark chestnut wings with paler tips and a black, cream-rimmed shield; the brighter orange-and-black young look quite different. It often perches on leaves and stems instead of remaining hidden all day. Colonies need a moist but ventilated substrate, foliage and a very secure lid. Females lay egg cases. Adults are fast climbers and fliers, so openings must be checked carefully.
