Cobalt Blue Tarantula
Melopoeus lividus
The cobalt blue tarantula is a burrowing species from Myanmar and Thailand. Adult females have intense blue legs, a gray carapace and a gray abdomen with darker markings, rather than the pale leg stripes of the Thai zebra. Formerly placed in Haplopelma and Cyriopagopus, it returned to Melopoeus in 2026. Experienced hobbyists provide deep, slightly moist substrate, a burrow starter and water in a secure, ventilated enclosure. It is fast and defensive, so avoid handling. Females lay eggs in a silk sac.
