Colossal Roach
Blaberus colosseus
The colossal roach is a large South American Blaberus kept by specialist breeders. Adults have broad tan forewings with dark markings and a dark central patch on the head shield. Some captive animals were initially confused with the giant cave cockroach, and reliable identification may require male anatomy rather than a photograph. Colonies use sheltered, moist organic substrate and varied food. Females retain their egg cases and release live nymphs.
