Colombian Blue Bloom Tarantula
Pamphobeteus nigricolor
The Colombian blue bloom tarantula is a large terrestrial spider documented in Colombia. Adult females are dark brown to black, while mature males sold in the hobby show the blue-purple sheen behind its common name. Closely related Pamphobeteus need expert identification rather than a color match. Hobbyists keep it in a spacious, low enclosure with deep substrate, a refuge and water. Its defensive abdominal hairs can irritate skin and eyes. Females lay eggs in silk sacs.
