Common Brush-Tailed Possum
Trichosurus vulpecula
This Australian marsupial has large ears, a pointed face and a bushy grasping tail. The gray form pictured has a pale belly; other natural coat colors occur. It uses tree hollows and feeds on leaves and other plant foods. Zoo marsupial teams provide climbing space and enclosed resting places. Tiny live-born young develop in the pouch. Trichosurus vulpecula is US Lacey Act injurious wildlife, so federal import restrictions and permit exceptions apply.
