Common Patas Monkey
Erythrocebus patas
A long-legged terrestrial monkey of African savannas, with a reddish back, pale limbs and a conspicuous white mustache. It spends much more time on the ground than many other monkeys and can run quickly across open country. Zoo primate teams provide secure ground space, shelter and elevated resting routes for social groups. Females give birth to live infants. US primate-import restrictions apply; Florida requires a Class II possession permit.
