Pewter
Pewter is a corn snake morph combination most commonly understood as charcoal combined with diffused, producing a dark, low-red snake with a smooth gray to charcoal appearance. The diffused component reduces side patterning and belly checkering, while charcoal removes red and orange tones. Good pewters often have a clean, smoky look, though shade and contrast vary by line and age.
For keepers, pewter corn snakes need the same practical setup as other corn snakes: an escape-resistant enclosure, reliable thermal gradient, hides, fresh water, and patient feeding routines. For breeders, the value is in knowing the genetics behind the visual label. Charcoal, diffused, and any hidden hets should be documented so offspring are not mislabeled. Pewter can overlap visually with other dark combinations, so lineage records and parent photos are useful when planning pairings or selling hatchlings.
