Sunkissed
Sunkissed is a recessive corn snake morph with a clean bright look, reduced black pigment, and warm orange, red, or golden tones. It is often described as hypo-like, but it is genetically separate from the common hypo genes and should not be assumed to breed the same way. Many sunkissed animals have crisp saddle edges, unusual head patterning, and a polished Okeetee-type appearance, though the exact look varies with line breeding and with additional color or pattern genes.
Keeping a sunkissed corn is no different from keeping other corn snakes: stable temperatures, secure hides, moderate humidity, and appropriately sized thawed mice are the main concerns. The important practical nuance is breeding history. Some older sunkissed-related lines were associated with the recessive stargazer neurologic defect, so responsible breeders track ancestry and avoid using carriers unless a carefully documented testing plan is in place. Buyers should feel comfortable asking whether a line is considered stargazer-free and how that was determined. Accurate records also prevent confusion with hypo, ultramel, or selectively bred normal-looking snakes.
