Costa Rican Orange Mouth Tarantula
Psalmopoeus reduncus
The Costa Rican orange mouth is a familiar hobby label for Psalmopoeus reduncus, but the currently accepted species is restricted to Nicaragua. Some spiders sold under the old name belong to other species, so retain breeder and locality records. Adults are brown, with an orange fringe around the mouth region. Experienced keepers provide a secure, ventilated vertical enclosure with bark retreats, substrate and water. This quick tree-dwelling spider should not be handled. Females produce silk egg sacs.
