Red
Red crested gecko refers to a captive color morph of Correlophus ciliatus with a red, orange-red, brick, or deep crimson base color. The shade can look very different between fired-up and fired-down states; a gecko that appears soft peach in daylight may become much darker at night or after misting. Red can occur with many pattern types, including patternless, bicolor, flame, harlequin, pinstripe, and dalmatian, so the color name alone does not describe the whole animal.
Good red lines are usually produced by selective breeding rather than a simple guarantee from one parent. Hatchlings also change as they mature, which makes adult photos and honest lineage notes valuable for buyers. Husbandry should not be manipulated to force color: crested geckos need moderate temperatures, not excessive heat, and a normal humidity cycle. Keepers choosing red animals for pets should still prioritize body condition, calm handling, sound crests, and a well-started feeding routine over the intensity of a sales photo.
