Sable
Sable crested gecko is a newer and less uniformly defined morph label in the Correlophus ciliatus hobby. It is generally used for animals with a smoky, shaded appearance: warm brown, charcoal, or nearly black bases with softened pattern edges and a darker overlay that can make cream, orange, or red markings look muted. Because the term has been used for both project animals and descriptive dark lines, it is worth reading the breeder's definition instead of assuming every sable gecko carries the same genetics.
Care follows normal crested gecko husbandry, with arboreal housing, nighttime activity, and temperatures kept in the moderate range. Dark animals may show their best contrast when fired up, so comparison photos in different states are helpful. Breeding sable-labeled geckos calls for careful records and conservative advertising; describe visible traits, parentage, and any proven inheritance rather than treating the name as a fixed registry category. For pet homes, the label mainly affects appearance, not diet, enclosure setup, or handling needs.
